Cistern was founded by Ned Harvey and Ted Caulkins  in 2007 as a response to the emergent gap between typical “green” consulting, which often concentrated on issues in a silo, and the need to address key business needs.  Instead of focusing on merely “greening” a business, our founders created a company which integrates sustainability into every solution while simultaneously addressing existing needs and reinforcing a company’s overall strategy and goals.

At Cistern, we believe that, in the future, successful companies will operate on a new model of business which naturally integrates sustainability into all aspects of strategy, decision-making, and operations. 

Our goal is to help businesses through this transition; to partner in developing sustainability-oriented solutions and processes which complement existing business strategies and goals, laying the foundation for future success.
